It's good to be home!

Monday, July 23

I promised some pictures of our booths at the Big Flea . . .and thanks to our freind, Amy , I can deliver!

These photos were taken before Linda added her amazing bouquets of Endless Summer blue/green hydrangeas cut from her yard. We hung them from the ladder over the columns - a perfect addition to our little set up.

Linda and I got back from the Flea last night with just enough energy to unload our trucks. This morning we came in and made sense of the cornucopia of new finds and returning ones that didn't go home with flea shoppers. So the shop looks very fresh and different. And we're tired. Or at least I am. (I think Linda's off to the mall with her two daughters in tow, for a little more aquisition therapy. And this on the heels of market in Atlanta! That's my partner!)

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us. A special thanks to Amy for our beautiful salads from Whole Foods(Amy's home away from home)and pictures - and to Jean for the fresh cut wild flowers from Fresh Fields (one of my favorite places). Hope the show was as fun for you as it was for us!

An invitation

Thursday, July 19

Linda and I are getting ready for the D.C. Big Flea this weekend at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA. If you're local or can make a little weekend road trip, we invite you to stop in and see us. We're in the North Building, Aisle E, Booths 927 & 928.

If you're not familiar with the Flea, it's metro D.C.'s largest antique event with millions of antiques and collectibles. There are 2 huge buildings filled with over 1100 booths of great stuff! You'll find great things from all eras at affordable prices.

Some of our favorite vendors and artisans are there. You won't want to miss it!

Hope to see you there!
I'll be sure to take pictures to post on the blog

In the works . . .

Monday, July 9

In response to the inquiry we've received as to how to find our ebay listings . . .we're actually rethinking that and are putting our energies into getting some items up and running to sell on our site. We may relook at ebay in the future, but for now we think our energy may be better spent on a little online shop as we have a lot of customers who are not in the area. So stay tuned . . . and thanks so much for your interest!

The dog days of Summer

Remember when the dark, cool basement was the place to be in the summer if you weren't poolside or playing kickball with the neighborhood gang until the streetlights came on? There were four channels on the television, five if you were lucky and could get good reception on 20. You actually had to walk to the set and turn the dial to change the station. Every kid had a bike that could take them just about anywhere in the neighborhood and playing outside all day was the general rule. The to do lists of our day may have read something like,

-- look for four leaf clovers
-- lift up big rocks to find potato bugs
-- run through the sprinkler
-- ride to 7-11 for a slurpee and a sweetart
-- make a wish on a dandelion
-- ride to the creek and collect tadpoles
-- hunt for fuzzy caterpillars
-- pick crabapples from the Hollister's tree
-- get allowance ready for the ice cream man
-- think of ways to avoid going in the house before the street lights come on.

That's pretty much how I spent my Summers as a kid. It was relaxing and memorable. Thankfully, I do spend my time a little differently now, instead of searching for clovers, bugs and tadpoles it's cool stuff for the shop and parking spaces with shade. Still, I'm sure there's nothing better than the lazy days of Summer.

Hope yours is going well.
